Is this really me, or do I want to portray myself as more beautiful than I actually am? How do I see myself? How do others see me? Is what the foto shows my true self? Does the painting have to be exactly like the photo? Who determines that? The artist...
This project marked my return to painting after almost 20 years. But even though the challenge was actually the size of the canvas, I quickly realized that acrylic painting as I used to practice it was starting to bore me a bit. I had to stop... to explore other painting techniques.
The "unfinished" piece was allowed to go on the wall despite its "work in progress" status. We'll see when it calls me again and what will emerge from it...
